Lot 10:
Description
This is a scarce antique single-sided porcelain advertising door pull for Foley’s Honey and Tar cough medicine, a popular so-called "quack" remedy sold from the 1870s through the mid-1960s and once described as the largest-selling cough medicine in the world. The original formula included alcohol, honey, and pine tar, and early labels often claimed it contained no opiates or other harmful drugs. This example retains nice gloss with both top and bottom grommets present, a clean field, and large and small chips along the perimeter. It measures approximately 3 1/8" W X 6 5/8" H.
