Description

Four railroad signs, including three single-sided porcelain examples and one steel sign. A Railway Express Agency sign retains color and gloss and has four mounting holes with grommets; the field is clean, and the perimeter shows chipping along the edges. It measures 11 3/16" x 11 3/16". A Santa Fe System "Welding & Cutting Warning" sign retains color and gloss and has four mounting holes with grommets; the field shows flea bites with rust, and the perimeter shows chipping along the edges. It measures approximately 7" W x 5" H. Also included is a porcelain sign edged in copper for the Change Booth of the Hayneville & Montgomery Railroad, which began service in 1905 and was later abandoned after operating nine miles; it measures 15 5/8" L x 3 1/16" H. The fourth is a Sal Pullman Norfolk steel sign reading "Passengers Should Not Stand on Platform and Must Not Open Vestibule Doors, " showing wear from age. It measures 19.25" L x 4.25" H.
