Description
Very rare original French ca. 1890 hand-painted tin clockwork Roman chariot with gilt lion team and bisque doll. The chariot features colorful floral decoration over its green finish paint with gilt-finished edging and two spoked wheels. Pulling the chariot is a pair of gilt-finished lions, and the rider is a bisque doll dressed in a green layered gown. The wheel near the mechanism’s wind hole has been repaired where the spokes meet the hub. The bisque doll is not the original doll that accompanied the chariot and can be removed and replaced with a different doll torso. We have tested it with its included key and found it to be working. It measures approximately 9.5" L.
