Marz February Premier Toy Auction
Lot 356:
A rare and decorative German eye-catcher for the Christmas holiday. The stand is designed to hold a tree and rotates while the music plays. It features a beech veneered calliope box with bronze fittings. Inside the music mechanism is one disc, "Silent Night, " by composer Franz Xaver Gruber. The music is activated by winding up and pulling the lever out. On top of the box is a cast iron vase with a Victorian feather-style Christmas tree adorned with tinsel, a few balls and berries, and a porcelain-faced Santa at the top. The tree spins slowly during play. Includes a wind-up key and all screws to securely fasten the tree. Completely working and powered by winding it up with the handle on the front. The stand measures approximately 17" L x 11 1/4" W x 12 1/2" H, and the entire piece, up to the tip of Santa’s hat, is 47 1/2" H.
