Description
Giant hand-carved and hand-painted soldier lot from Germany, Erzgebirge or Black Forest region. This is an outstanding find with 22 soldiers in two different styles. The set includes commanders, soldiers, gunmen, different rankings, as well as a German war flag. The toy has been kept in a U.S. family’s collection for multiple generations and stored in a custom-made glass case. The condition of the paint is exceptional, with vibrant colors that appear original. The toy does not blacklight and show restorations; instead, it appears all original and in excellent condition for a 130-year-old set of toys. Soldiers are a larger design and measure 12.5 cm from round soldier base to top of head gear, on average.
