Lot 293:
Description
Imswiler & Saylor cast iron mechanical pineapple bank, commemorating Hawaii as the 50th U.S. state. This fully operational bank accepts coins from a penny to a 50-cent piece. When the rear lever is pressed, the figure raises her right hand to her mouth, swallows the coin, rolls her eyes upward, and her tongue recedes. Releasing the lever resets the figure. Coins can be accessed through a screw-open base plate. The paint is in excellent condition. This is an all original first edition, marked “July 4, 1960” on the back and “First run of 500” on the base plate. The bank is approximately 8.75" H.
