Description
This is an original Shepard Hardware cast iron Uncle Sam mechanical bank. When the button behind Uncle Sam’s left foot is pressed, the coin in his right hand is deposited into the open valise, and at the same time, his beard whiskers move. This is a working example of this piece. It has great original paint. The front of the platform reads "UNCLE SAM, " the left and right sides read "BANK, " and the valise reads "U.S." The bottom is marked "PAT. JUNE 8 1886." The trap is present and includes its key. It measures approximately 4" L x 5" W x 11.25" H.
