Description
This is a lot of 6 very nice Japanese celluloid characters. The highlight is a Geo. Borgfeldt & Co./Koyo Metal Co. celluloid windup Carl Anderson’s “Henry on Elephant” variation in bright pink and orange. When wound with its original key, the elephant’s head nods up and down as Henry rides, while the mahout is attached via its original cord that runs from the elephant’s back to its tail. The windup is strong and fully functional. The internal metal hooks that hold the head to the body and enable the nodding action are original and intact. Colors remain vibrant, with typical paint and overspray for this type of toy. There is a small crack by the keyhole. It measures approximately 8" L x 6" H. The lot also includes a celluloid head-nodder donkey with no cracks or dents, two small celluloid head-nodder geese with no cracks or dents, a Masudaya windup celluloid cat playing with a butterfly (tested, working, includes key, no cracks or dents), and a Tahara celluloid Itchy Dog (tested, working, no cracks or dents). This is a wonderful set for any established or beginning celluloid collector.
