Lot 77:
Description
Celluloid windup “Henry on Elephant” in a white variation, manufactured by Koyo Metal Co./Koyo Kinzoku Co., Ltd. of Japan and imported by George Borgfeldt & Co., New York. When wound with its original key, the elephant’s head nods up and down while carrying Henry for a ride. The mahout remains attached by its original cord, which runs from the back to the elephant’s tail. The windup mechanism is strong and fully functional. Original metal hooks inside the head secure the nodding action. Paint and overspray are consistent with production, while colors remain vivid. Marked “Japan” with the Koyo “K” logo on the belly. The left ear on the inside has a split that appears to have been at least attempted to be repaired, but it is in a difficult place to repair. The ear does stay in place if handled gently. Henry also has a crack down the right side of his body and face. This measures approximately 8" L x 6" H.
