Hubley No. 828 cast iron mechanical Trick Dog Bank, circa 1930s. This bank is based on an 1888 patent by New Jersey inventor Daniel Cooke. To operate, a coin is placed in the dog’s mouth, then a lever on the base is pressed to release a latch, launching the dog through a hoop held by a clown. The dog springs forward and deposits the coin into a cast iron barrel. It is reset by pulling back the dog’s body and lever arm to latch it in place. The figure has a white face with red and yellow highlights, black boots, and dark clothing, while the base is painted soft blue with gold trim. All original. It measures approximately 8.75" L x 2.75" W x 7.5" H.
