Description
With this 1st variation of "The Old Jalopy" aka the College Boys Car, we find several political statements written into the design of the lithography: "GI Diploma UpSideDown College, " "Army Surplus, " "Slave Quarters." But the most interesting aspect of this toy are the 13 names that can be found on the car, with one of the largest being "Louie, " referencing Louis Marx of course. The other names represent individuals that worked in the different areas of the factory and administrative offices. The box is a very respectable example that shows wear. There is one noticeable crease but nothing significant. It measures approximately 5.5" L. Provenance: This item was displayed at The National Museum of Toys & Miniatures in Kansas City Mo.
