Lot 109:
Description
N.J. Zinc Co. single-sided porcelain "ELEKTRIKA" danger sign. These signs were created for Eastern European immigrant workers in industrial settings, using the word "Elektrika" and universal warning graphics such as the skull and crossbones to communicate electrical danger across language barriers. This example is weathered and retains a slight gloss. It has six mounting holes, with five grommets present (the lower left is missing), and the upper right hole shows chipping around it. The field is faded, pitted, and worn, while the perimeter shows chipping and rust from use and age. It measures approximately 6" W x 12" H.
