The Great Toy Expedition: A Spring Auction
Sold for: $375
Converse Toys open-air three bench automobile, also known as a surrey, made circa 1900. This large windup toy retains a fabric top with fringe and includes its bell and key. The paint shows partial restoration. When wound, the clockwork is a bit touchy and will unwind slightly, but the wheels do engage and turn. It works best when the toy is lifted, though the wheels do not operate properly when placed on the ground. A substantial early tin automobile, it measures approximately 10" L x 7.5" H.
