Lot 309:
Description
A very unusual pre-WWI Imperial German officer’s flask and cigarette case named to the 160th Regiment, Diez. One side features a tin litho door decorated with multiple scenes, opening to reveal a compartment for cigarette storage. The flask retains its glass insert and a decorative shot glass screw top lid showing a German figure celebrating, along with an early Zeppelin image. Details and writing remain in very good condition. The tin litho side is in very good condition, while the reverse shows heavy wear and is nearly illegible. When empty, the interior image of an officer with his sweetheart becomes visible. The original rope cord remains intact. It measures approximately 9.5" H.
