The Premier Firearms & Militaria Auction
Lot 47:
Description
18th century flintlock black powder pistol chambered in approximately .57 caliber. This early unmarked example features a 9.6" barrel mostly in the white with traces of finish remaining. The steel shows swirling patterns, possibly Damascus style, especially apparent toward the front of the barrel. The central barrel is decorated with a spear motif terminating in a floral design, and the body is engraved with swirling floral patterns throughout. The butt cap is highly ornate with octagonal facets and a repeating milgrain design, terminating in a pointed pommel. The action functions properly with two locking positions.
