This great hand-painted set of original Hanna-Barbera animation production cels features Scooby-Doo disguised in a trench coat from The Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo Show’s 12th episode, Surprised Spies, which originally aired on January 24, 1981. The set consists of two matching cel layers, one containing Scooby’s head, neck, collar, and hat, and the second containing his body. Both cel layers remain in excellent condition with no visible scratches or paint flaking. The black outlines are printed on the front of the acetate and are slightly raised, while the color paint is applied to the reverse in the thick, matte, uneven manner characteristic of original production cels. Both layers are marked with the matching sequence and layer code "M7," while the upper layer is additionally marked "SH41" and the lower body layer is marked "SB1." These cels were likely reused in more than one episode. The head layer exhibits minor age-related adhesion to the layer beneath it at the very top of Scooby’s hat. We did not attempt to separate the layers to avoid risking damage to the original painted surfaces. Both cels measure approximately 12.5" L x 10.5" H.
