The James Gillespie Estate Soldiers & Cast Iron Toys Auction
A colorful ensemble of six Lineol and Elastolin Italian Royal Army military band figures features a strong mix of ceremonial and marching musicians. The group includes a Schellenbaum bearer holding a crescent-framed standard topped with a shield emblem and flanked by red and white horsehair plumes, a trombone player extending his horn’s slide, a side snare drummer, a clarinetist, a French horn player, and a fan-trumpeter blowing a brass horn decorated with a red, white, and green Italian tricolor banner. The Jingling Jolly is removable. Normal light wear from age and handling is present. The figures range from approximately 7 cm to 7.5 cm H from the base to the top of the head. Please note that the bannerman’s base has cracked since the photographs were taken.
