The James Gillespie Estate Soldiers & Cast Iron Toys Auction
Six Lineol and Elastolin German Wehrmacht casualty figures and a battlefield grave accessory create a somber combat scene. The group includes a field grave cross adorned with an Iron Cross emblem and a resting steel helmet, two standing infantrymen captured mid-action as they are struck by enemy fire and fall backward clutching their rifles, and two prone dead or severely wounded soldiers lying flat on their stomachs. The scene is completed by a propped-up casualty holding one hand to his head while shielding his eyes. Normal light wear from age and handling is present. The prone soldier measures approximately 6.5 cm L, while the falling figures measure approximately 6.5 cm H from the base to the top of the head. Four figures are in very good condition, while one is in good overall condition.
