The James Gillespie Estate Soldiers & Cast Iron Toys Auction
Twelve Lineol German naval figures combine pre-war Kriegsmarine sailors with post-war Volksmarine replacements in a mixed-era parade formation. Ten sailors march in a combination of dark blue winter and white summer dress uniforms. A prominent ceremonial color guard includes an East German era soldier wearing a steel helmet and carrying a fabric flag with the hammer and compass emblem, alongside a sailor carrying a composite version of the same tricolor flag. The figures measure approximately 2.75" to 3.5" H. Normal light wear from age and handling is present, with three figures showing heavier surface wear and one sailor having a crack in the neck. Three pieces are in good condition, and nine are in very good overall condition.
