The James Gillespie Estate Soldiers & Cast Iron Toys Auction
This mixed-era Lineol German Wehrmacht and Volksmarine grouping includes twelve infantry figures, a two-man motorcycle combination, a 1969 East German 5 Mark commemorative coin, and a Collective Socialistic Work activist medal. The tactical scouting group features a motorcycle measuring approximately 4" L with a driver and detachable passenger, along with marching infantrymen, an advancing scout, a prone lookout with binoculars, and a musician playing a clarinet. Combat support figures include an officer directing troops, a kneeling soldier with a supply box, and two specialized figures operating a rocket launcher or panzerschreck weapon. A detached cloth East German tricolor flag banner with an embroidered state emblem is also included. The figures measure approximately 2.75" to 3.25" H. Normal light wear from age and handling is present, with a torso repair to the motorcycle driver, ankle cracks on one figure, and a couple of damaged weapons. Four figures are in good condition, and eight are in very good condition.
