The James Gillespie Estate Soldiers & Cast Iron Toys Auction
A collection of four original cast iron safe banks includes a State Safe combination bank, a Kyser & Rex Safe Deposit combination safe bank, and two J.E. Stevens National Safe banks. The State Safe combination bank was tested during cataloging and found to be in working condition; the first number appears to vary between 4 and 10 to the left, followed by 3 to the right to open. The Kyser & Rex Safe Deposit bank has an unknown combination (note: it does not come with the unrelated key pictured). One 1896-1928 J.E. Stevens National Safe bank retains only very light traces of red paint and comes with its key. The second 1896-1928 J.E. Stevens National Safe bank also comes with its key. The State Safe bank measures approximately 2.75" W x 4.25" H, the Kyser & Rex Safe Deposit bank measures approximately 2.75" W x 4" H, and each J.E. Stevens National Safe bank measures approximately 3.5" W x 3.25" H. The overall condition ranges from fair to very good.
