This unusual Four Posted cast iron still bank, circa 1900s, features a multi-lobed scalloped dome cupola roof with a vertical coin deposit slot cut through the top center ridge. Three openwork side facades are filled with dense diamond-lattice window grills, while the rear is enclosed by a flat sheet metal privacy panel. A nearly identical Four Posted Safe bank is illustrated in Don Duer’s "Penny Banks Around the World, " page 28, No. 164, where it is attributed to an unknown American maker and configured as a combination safe bank rather than a still bank. This example measures approximately 4" L x 4" W x 4.5" H.
