Manufactured by Ives, Blakeslee Co. in 1901, this antique cast iron "Captain Kidd" literary figural still bank features a multi-colored painted figure wearing a wide-brimmed hat, blue tunic, cinched waist belt, orange-lined traveler’s cloak, and knee-high dark boots. "CAPTAIN KIDD" is cast in raised relief along the front edge of the base. A vertical coin slot is integrated into the flat bark surface at the top of the hollow trunk casting, while a silver-washed digging spade stands beside the figure’s left foot.
