Description
Model 1822 Simeon North flintlock pistol manufactured in Middletown, Connecticut, chambered in .54 caliber. The upper left side of the chamber is marked “JDJ / P / US, ” and the rear of the lock plate is dated “1822.” The lock plate is stamped “S. NORTH / U (eagle) S / MIDLTN CONN.” ahead of the hammer. Features include blade and groove sights, sliding hammer safety, detachable brass flash pan, smooth stock with oval cartouche, steel furniture, and swivel ramrod. A “V” inspector initial is present on the stock flat at the rear of the lock plate tail, and a condemnation mark is present on the top rear of the barrel. The pistol exhibits a bright gray patina with dings, pitting, and dark spots. The stock shows wear consistent with age. The safety slides and the hammer cocks fully, but the firing mechanism does not appear to function.
