Description
John Sharpe Georgian brass barrel Tower flintlock pistol. The lock plate is stamped “Tower” and “Sharpe.” The barrel is marked with ELG and star proof, indicating Liège, Belgium proofing (used 1818–1893), and is also stamped “London.” The opposite side of the barrel is marked “EXTRA PROOF, ” indicating superior proof testing. A Crown over GR marking is present, signifying “Georgius Rex” or King George, commonly associated with British Royal ownership or contract manufacture and often seen alongside the Tower marking to indicate inspection by the Tower of London Armoury. The walnut stock is fitted with a brass side plate, decorated trigger guard, and butt cap, along with a floral-decorated steel lock and lock plate. The ramrod is present. The mechanism functions, with the hammer cocking and the trigger releasing properly.
