The Summer Discovery Toy Auction
Produced for the 1989 Chevrolet Lumina national advertising campaign, this historical vintage two-piece matching production set features a live action/animation composite consisting of the original hand-painted animation cel and the matching live-action photograph featuring Walt Disney’s classic character Dumbo landing on the trunk of a Chevy Lumina sedan in front of the Plaza Hotel in New York City. The paint is sharp and shows no flaking. The black outlines are on the front of the acetate sheet and are slightly raised, while the color paint is on the back of the sheet and is thick, matte, and uneven. Each layer has its sequencing and layer codes. The top cel layer featuring Dumbo is marked "2" and "D149," while the photograph layer is marked "900/2" and "149." The cel is not adhered to the photograph, and the two pieces separate normally. The animation cel measures approximately 12.5" L x 10.5" H, and the live-action photograph measures approximately 14" L x 11" H.
