The James Gillespie Estate Soldiers & Cast Iron Toys Auction
A mixed grouping of six Durso, Elastolin, and Lineol Napoleonic and European military figures brings together Imperial Guard, infantry, and musician subjects. The top row consists of a Scottish Highlander drummer in a traditional kilt and bearskin cap, a saluting officer in a long black cape with a bicorn hat, and a Durso French Imperial Guard standard bearer holding a "Garde Imperiale" tricolor flag topped with a golden eagle. The bottom row includes an Elastolin marching infantry musician in a field gray uniform and Pickelhaube helmet playing an oboe, a small caricature or dwarf-like soldier figure in a green uniform, and a Lineol marching musician playing a clarinet. Normal light wear from age and handling is present. The drummer measures approximately 11 cm H from the base to the top of the head, while the smallest figure measures approximately 5 cm H. Two figures show some wear and are in good overall condition.
