The James Gillespie Estate Soldiers & Cast Iron Toys Auction
A varied grouping of nine Elastolin German SA military band figures and related pieces includes musicians, a sentry box, and a period postcard. The figures include a trumpet player, a glockenspiel lyre player, a standard bearer holding a gold-fringed swastika "Deutschland Erwache" style flag, a marching officer, tuba players, an unarmed marching man, a bass drummer, and a fifer. Centered in the group is a wooden sentry box with a painted wood-grain pattern and red-trimmed opening. The glockenspiel tassels move. Also included is an original Agfa postcard-backed silver gelatin photograph depicting three SA men standing in formation outside a timber-framed barracks building with an identical gold-fringed swastika "Deutschland Erwache" style flag. Normal wear from age and handling is present. The guardhouse measures approximately 11 cm H, while the figures measure approximately 7 cm to 7.5 cm H from the base to the top of the head. One figure has a loose head. One figure is in very good condition, while the remaining figures are in good overall condition.
