The James Gillespie Estate Soldiers & Cast Iron Toys Auction
A distinctive grouping of nine Elastolin German SA military band figures features two Schellenbaum bearers alongside musicians and band leaders. One standard bearer holds a swastika-emblazoned Schellenbaum topped by a traditional eight-pointed Prussian star, while a second carries a variant topped with a national eagle finial. The remaining figures include two unarmed men standing at attention, a marching bassoon player, a horn player blowing a brass trumpet, two side snare drummers beating their drums, and a drum major leading the band with a raised baton. Both Jingling Johnnys are removable. Normal light wear from age and handling is present. One figure has a cracked arm, and the conductor’s arm is detached and needs repair. The figures measure approximately 7 cm to 7.5 cm H from the base to the top of the head. Five figures are in very good condition, while four are in good overall condition.
