The James Gillespie Estate Soldiers & Cast Iron Toys Auction
Seven Lineol and Elastolin Italian Army political and military figures form a high-ranking ceremonial grouping with one mounted cavalry trooper and six figures on foot. The group includes a Benito Mussolini figure standing on a "DUX" inscribed base with a functional saluting arm that remains raised, a black-uniformed MVSN militia official, and two distinct figures of Field Marshal Pietro Badoglio holding a field map. Ceremonial and musical support figures include a parade officer wearing a blue sash and a Bersaglieri trumpeter blowing a signal horn with an attached waving Italian tricolor flag banner. The figures measure approximately 2.75" to 3.25" H, while the detachable horse measures approximately 3.25" L. Normal light wear from age and handling is present. One Badoglio figure has leg cracks, two other pieces are in good condition, and the remaining four are in very good condition.
