The James Gillespie Estate Soldiers & Cast Iron Toys Auction
Five Lineol and Chialu mounted military figures and one pack animal make up this Italian Army cavalry and transport grouping. The riders are mounted on detachable horses measuring approximately 4" to 5.25" L and include a cavalry officer with a raised arm, a charging trooper brandishing a drawn saber, a scout with a slung rifle, and two high-ranking saluting officers in dress tunics. Logistical support is represented by a detailed laden pack donkey or mule carrying field gear and side bags strapped to its back. Normal wear from age and handling is present. A couple of horses have leg cracks, and one horse shows a tail repair. The set is in good overall condition.
