Specially produced for the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, this Enterprise Mfg. Co. Globe Bank was designed to encourage children to save money. The manual bell ringer operates when the lever is pulled down with the thumb. The bank features a gold-wash globe with a red base, and the top reads "Pennies First Then Dollars." The manufacturer’s mark and bank name are cast around the base. This higher-end presentation variation originally featured small decorative foil-stenciled decals on each side. Over more than 150 years, the extremely thin decals have nearly worn away from handling, leaving only faint "ghost" traces on this example. The left wing tip of the eagle finial is chipped, and there is a cast iron chip to the left side of the coin slot. Paint loss is present throughout. It measures approximately 6" H. The overall condition is good.
